AGCO and Agility Robotics have signed a commercial agreement to deploy Agility’s Digit humanoid at AGCO’s manufacturing facility. The U.S. pilot project, expected to begin in 2027, will support AGCO’s efforts to create more flexible and intelligent factories, starting with its manufacturing site in Hesston, Kan.

“This strategic relationship sees humanoid robotics and artificial intelligence as essential ‘teammates’ in building flexible and intelligent factories,” said Thomas Enghof, director of manufacturing technology at AGCO. “They unlock automation in complex, human-centric workflows, augmenting human capabilities by absorbing repetitive, strenuous, or dangerous tasks. By pairing human ingenuity with robust robotic engineering and rigorous safety governance, we create resilient manufacturing systems that empower the workforce and deliver measurable business value.”

AGCO said it is a global leader in agricultural machinery and precision farming technologies. The Duluth, Ga.-based company’s brands include Fendt, Massey Ferguson, PTx and Valtra. AGCO said its high-performance equipment and smart farming systems, including brand-agnostic retrofit technologies and autonomous offerings, “enable farmers to increase productivity while sustainably feeding the world.”

AGCO joins a growing list of Digit deployments

According to Agility, Digit uses artificial intelligence to continuously learn and adapt to changing workflows, enabling greater operational flexibility and improved productivity. When paired with the Agility Arc cloud-based platform for deploying and managing robot fleets, companies can quickly integrate automation into essential operations without requiring extensive infrastructure changes or costly facility upgrades.

AGCO joins a growing number of leading global companies using Agility humanoid robots, including Toyota, GXO Logistics and Schaeffler.

“We are excited to work alongside AGCO as it continues to be at the forefront of agricultural innovation,” said Daniel Diez, chief business officer of Agility. “By introducing Agility’s Digit humanoid robots into AGCO’s operations, we have the opportunity to strengthen manufacturing processes, support employees with challenging tasks, and demonstrate how advanced robotics can create a measurable impact in modern manufacturing environments.”

Agility is in motion

Agility said its humanoid robot will initially support key assembly and manufacturing operations, including part sorting and stacking, as well as the intelligent placement of storage crates. The physical AI company said Digit will improve ergonomic safety, improve operational efficiency and allow employees to focus on higher-value, skill-based work that drives innovation and productivity.

It’s been a busy time for Agility Robotics. Last month, the company unveiled the latest version of its robot, Digit 5. The latest version of the Digit includes new legs, upgraded batteries, and a more comprehensive safety architecture. The Salem, Oregon-based company recently confirmed that it is exploring the possibility of building wheeled robots for its customers.

Agility is preparing to become a public company through its previously announced merger with Churchill Capital Corp XI. The business combination is expected to close in the fourth quarter of 2026, after which the combined company will operate as Agility Robotics and trade on the Nasdaq under the symbol “AGLT.”
