Nominations open for the 2027 TRR50 Robotics Innovation Awards

Nominations open for the 2027 TRR50 Robotics Innovation Awards

Aaron Parness, director of applied sciences at Amazon Robotics, and Bhavana Chandrashekhar, senior manager of applied sciences at Amazon Robotics, speak at the 2026 RBR50 gala.

The robot report is seeking nominations for the TRR50 Robotics Innovation Awards 2026. Since 2012, the RBR50 has recognized the most innovative organizations and robots, and this year we will rebrand to The Robot Report 50 (TRR50). Here are the winners of 2026, 2025, 2024, 2023, 2022 and 2021.

Every year, The robot report selects the most interesting and important robotic innovations from around the world. The deadline for submission is Friday 5 January 2027. Submit your nominations below.

TRR50 winners will be celebrated at an awards gala during the Robotics Summit & Expo, taking place June 2-3, 2027 in Boston. Some of the winners will also present demonstrations of their robots at the Robotics Summit exhibition area in Hall TRR50.

TRR50 Award Categories

To be eligible, all submissions must be for innovations initiated, released, or executed between January 1 and December 31, 2026. TRR50 seeks proposals in the following categories:

Start of the year: The candidate must be under five years old and must already be testing his innovation with customers. Last year Physical Intelligence, which offers artificial intelligence models that change the way robots learn, won the Startup of the Year award, and the year before that Mytra took home the honors.

Application of the Year: The winner will be a use case that was previously difficult to automate and where robotics and automation have demonstrated a clear advantage over previous processes. Last year, Harvard University won for its wearable robots that help people struggling after a stroke or with ALS. The year before, TEPCO had won for its work to remove radioactive fuel from Japan’s Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.

Robot of the Year: The TRR50 awards seek a game-changing robot in terms of technological innovation, use cases and industry influence. Amazon’s Vulcan robot won the award in 2026, and Robotaxi developer Waymo won in 2025.

Robots forever: The TRR50 Robots for Good award recognizes robots that have a positive impact on society by addressing social challenges, improving the quality of life or work or promoting sustainability. Tatum Robotics won in 2026 for its robotic hand that enables tactile communication in sign language. In 2025, Hello Robot’s Stretch 3 mobile manipulator won the first Robots for Good Award.

Best use of artificial intelligence: The TRR50 Best Use of AI award will recognize a real-world application of AI in robotics. This new category will highlight a use case that exemplifies how AI is changing robotics.

Products: This category rewards new robots, enabling technologies and research.

Commercial activity: This category recognizes notable milestones, unique business models and other initiatives that position a company as a market leader.

Applications: The TRR50 will also recognize innovations that improve productivity, quality and cost-effectiveness, as well as those that automate new tasks.
