Last week the Advanced Robotics for Manufacturing, or ARM Institute, said the member consortium has grown to include more than 500 organizations nationwide, with thousands of individual subject matter experts represented within these organizations. The organization works with its consortium and the U.S. government to promote the United States as a leading manufacturing nation through the adoption of robotics and artificial intelligence.

“We are proud to work with our consortium to build a resilient, secure and bright future for U.S. manufacturing,” said Jorgen Pedersen, CEO of the ARM Institute. “Our member consortium is the foundation of our Institute and an integral part of our mission.”

“Our members have collaborated with us on hundreds of technology projects, helping us launch major initiatives, including our national workforce resource RoboticsCareer.orgwe have supported manufacturers on their journey to robotics and automation and more,” he added. “We look forward to celebrating this milestone at our 10th annual membership meeting later this month.”

Founded in 2017, the ARM Institute is a Manufacturing Innovation Institute (MII) funded by the Office of the Secretary of War under Agreement No. W911NF-17-3-0004 and is part of the Manufacturing USA network. The organization relies on its member consortium and partners from industry, academia and government to advance U.S. manufacturing leadership through the adoption of robotics and artificial intelligence.

ARM Institute carries out activities with and for members

The ARM Institute said it will focus on catalyzing innovative yet practical robotics and physical AI solutions. The Pittsburgh-based institute said it is also working to grow and prepare the U.S. workforce for advanced manufacturing careers.

“The ARM Institute member consortium is broad, filling gaps, and bringing together diverse perspectives to catalyze robotics, physical AI, and workforce solutions to strengthen U.S. manufacturing,” the organization said.

Last month, the institute issued a project call to the US Navy to address the needs of the shipbuilding industrial base. This month, the ARM Institute released a request for proposals for a skills gap analysis for a localized talent supply chain to support the defense and organic industrial base.

Consortium members include manufacturers of all sizes, defense contractors, technology providers offering robotics and artificial intelligence systems, research universities, community colleges, vocational schools, government entities, startups and others.

Membership in the ARM Institute is organization-wide and provides access to funding opportunities, exclusive member events, a digital member community for virtual collaboration, and more. Businesses, government agencies and educational institutions that would otherwise be considered competitors work together through the institute to benefit the nation and manufacturers in the United States, the organization said.

The 10th annual membership meeting is coming up

The ARM Institute has marked its membership milestone as it prepares to host its 10th memberth Annual membership meeting November 17-19. This members-only event brings together experts from across the ARM consortium and the US government for two and a half days of networking, collaboration and knowledge sharing.

The event in Pittsburgh features expert-led presentations, curated networking and matchmaking, a member showcase lounge and more. This year’s event will feature celebratory content and activities in recognition of the anniversary.
